Edamame Bean These have been described as a super food. They are very healthy and nutritious, packed full of high quality protein, high in fibre, vitamin C, folic acid and reported to help lower cholesterol. They are also very versatile; you can eat it hot as an accompaniment to a main dish, cold in salad or on its own as a healthy snack. As a snack the pods can be simmered (lightly salt the water if you wish) until tender and the beans popped out of the pod to be eaten. They can be shelled and added to stir fries or cooked with meat or other vegetables. The variety we are offering, Envy is one of the most suitable soybeans for the UK climate and, like all of our other seed, it is of course GM free. Plant after the soil warms up in spring and keep moist but not soaked while germinating. All the pods are usually harvested at the same time (after about 12 weeks) so this is suitable for successional planting to extend your harvest period. Pick the pods when they are plump and green (before they turn yellow). Price for 40 seeds.
